Creating a flyer
This assignment called for me to create a flyer using the concepts learned in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I first drew drafts (thumbnails and comprehensives) of what I planned on doing. Next I edited images and text in Photoshop and finally placed everything together in Adobe Illustrator.
Creating this flyer was important to me because although it does not relate to my future major of study in college, it taught me to utilize skills I could apply to anything. For example, I was able to create a product which synthesizes and interprets materials from outside sources for the flyer. In the future, I hope to be able to bring multiple, different sources together and contribute something useful to society as well.
After doing this flyer, I learned to notice things I ordinarily would not have. For instance, when people look at flyers for an event, their eyes are drawn first to the bigger details and automatically scan the smaller texts for details. The placement of items on a poster is crucial because people are attracted to certain elements, and graphic designers appeal to those traits. Also, I learned that even though there are so many different ideas that can be used to convey what I want to say, it's ultimately my choice on which would be best suited for the concept.
